Welcome to the page where we introduce you to some friends of ours, and other extremely useful sites: Jamaica Antigua Costa Rica

For Jamaica, we would recommend that you visit

The official website of the Jamaica Tourist Board. For an overview of the best attractions on the island, go to the Association of Jamaica Attractions Ltd.

For other places to stay, the following hotels and villas are exceptional:

In Ocho Rios, Jamaica Inn is still the most charming small hotel. For a luxurious villa alternative, you will not find better than Prospect Villas, while High Hope is a b&b plus. For the Montego Bay area, Round Hill attracts a glittering crowd. Our personal favourite escapes are Tensing Pen in Negril, offering incredible swimming, sunsets and atmosphere, and Jake's in Treasure Beach, which has become a south coast legend.

Whilst Toscanini's is one of the best restaurants in Jamaica, other places to eat in Ocho Rios include Passage to India, which offers excellent northern Indian cuisine, and Evita's, with its glorious night views over the town.

Apart from the world-famous Dunn's River Falls, there are many local attractions that should not be missed. Dolphin Cove offers a chance to swim with dolphins, while Chukka Cove offers an array of imaginative, superbly run tours.

If, like us, you decide that Jamaica is a great place to live, the best realtor in Ocho Rios is Joan Marsh at Meldam.

For Antigua, Harmony Hall now has its own website, while the Antigua & Barbuda Department of Tourism is a comprehensive site, and Antigua Nice offers a wealth of additional information.

If you are looking for somewhere more luxurious to stay, we would not hesitate to recommend the following three resorts as the best on Antigua. Curtain Bluff, on the south coast, has maintained the highest standards for many years, and boasts the finest wine cellar in the Caribbean. Jumby Bay occupies its own island, while Blue Waters is one of Antuigua's oldest and best-loved resorts.

Antigua has some wonderful restaurants. Amongst our favourites are Abracadabra in Nelson's Dockyard - a yachtie and local mecca, where Paolo (owner) and Salvatore (chef) present arguably the best value on the island (and the hottest night club after 11pm); Home, on the outskirts of St. John's, is well worth a visit; Julian's Alfresco on Runaway Bay offers a fine fusion of flavours; in Hodges Bay, Le Bistro is exceptional by any standards; at Five Islands, Chez Pascal is a classic French restaurant in a beautiful setting.

English Harbour is one of the Caribbean's most remarkable attractions, and is a must-see (especially the Sunday afternoon jump-up at Shirley Heights). The Museum of Antigua & Barbuda in St. John's has a treasure trove of artefacts throughout the ages. Terrence Sprague's Heavenly Hill Gallery offers local art in a lovely setting.

Again, if, like us, you think that Antigua is a great place to live, the best realtor on the island is Geoffrey Pidduck at Tradewind Realty.

The Caribbean coast of Costa Rica is still developing (slowly), and is not well endowed with websites. However, the Costa Rica Tourism & Travel Bureau has lots of information on the country. For information on Puerto Viejo and its surroundings, Talamanca Discovery is informative.

There are 2 wonderful places to stay within walking distance of La Casita: Cariblue is Italian owned and operated, while Costa de Papito is run by an American. Both are set in fabulous grounds.

Puerto Viejo and Playa Cocles have lots of great places to eat, but none of them have websites. Believe us when we say that the food is excellent and the value astounding.

Yet again, if, like us, you think that Talamanca is a great place to live, Charlie Wanger at Cabinas el Tesoro is your man.
